Sleeping Beauty

The Sleeping Beauty, everyone's favorite fairy tale ballet with live orchestra! Don't miss this classical masterpiece with the traditional choreography of Marius Petipa staged by Jennifer Porter and the magnificent score of P. I. Tchaikovsky conducted by Alan Futterman.

Ms. Porter, Artistic Director, presents the beauty and grandeur of this spectacular ballet featuring the exquisite young dancers of Bellevue's own ensemble professional ballet company.  Caroline Burnett stars as "Princess Aurora," and Kyle Johnson performs the famous, challenging role of "Bluebird."  Returning after many appearances with Ballet Bellevue, guest artist Evgeny Lushkin is "Prince Floristan."  In a splendor of tutus, Christina Stockgdale is the "Lilac Fairy" reigning over the fairies of the kingdom (Kara Rochelle Dominick, Natasha Keeley, Ting Liu and Katrina Muser).   Contesting the Lilac Fairy in all her beauty and goodness is the wicked fairy, "Carabosse, " danced by Alexa Kovalick.

Audiences of all ages will especially love the wedding scene of Act III with its entourage of storybook characters that Tchaikovsky added to the story: Little Red Riding Hood, the Wolf, Puss 'n Boots and the White Cat.  The Ballet Bellevue Orchestra, with internationally renowned Music Director, Alan Futterman, boasts not only top professional principals, but also award-winning students of the Academy Chamber Orchestra.  Children of Ballet Bellevue School will have their moment on stage as sprites, gold and silver wishes, lilac attendants and friends of Aurora.
